Whilst our Sourdough School Courses are currently all one year courses, that follow a guided syllabus have a membership option which allows bakers to join and access our baking tutorials at a Club member level. The memberships gives you access to recipes, videos and core knowledge tutorials, however it is important to understand that this membership is a self guided syllabus that means that you have access to:
- The Sourdough Club level recipes, videos, tips, technique videos
- The Sourdough Club Forum.
- A weekly Live Clinic with Vanessa
Cost
To join the Sourdough Club on our Monthly Subscription Option we charge a single initial administration-based joining fee in order to process your membership & one month later a monthly subscription fee each month, and there is a minimum requirement of 3 months subscription. Our memberships are available as 3 month, 6 month, 12 months and unlimited.
For every new Community Membership subscription we give away multiple bursary memberships as part of our Systems Change Programme. We have calculated that during 2022 we have given away £150k worth of Sourdough School and Sourdough Club places – that is twice our annual turnover.
Is this the best way to learn?
It really depends on what kind of person you are and what interests you. If you prefer to learn in your own time, to fit in with your life, and you want to use the Club structure as a resource then membership is a great way to learn.
The advantage to joining as a club level members is that you do not have to wait to start learning. You become part of a lively and friendly baking community via our Forum. Each week during school term time you are able to join Vanessa in a live Clinic.
The disadvantage is that this membership is entirely self guided, does not include the research level features detailing the nutrition and digestibility of sourdough, or our tasks, School events or access to the multiple live classes tutorials and is less interactive with Vanessa.
This option is often the one beginners and intermediate bakers choose who want the flexibility of a rolling monthly membership. It is important to note that you are committed to staying for a minimum of 3 months, before you can cancel your subscription
Wait
If you are a total beginner and have never baked sourdough then this is a commitment and really I would rather you don’t join the Club until you have baked. Don’t be surprised that I am suggesting not joining as the best route. My motivation is not money, and you would be far better off that you start with a lower cost option of our 10 Minute Sourdough Book, which is a brilliant beginners book or following our basic recipes free here. Then once you know that you like baking and you want learn more then do come back and join.
Should I join?
Yes, particularly if you answer yes to the following statements:
- I have baked sourdough before, or I have a sourdough starter and have just begun to bake.
- I am self motivated, and can commit to baking in my own time.
- I am interested in more than just big holes – I want to understand sourdough
- Healthy bread is something I am very interested in learning more about
- I want to learn about other ways to use sourdough such as pasta, flat breads, pastries, cakes and buns.
- I like to know about how to eat bread to support gut health- including probiotics and probiotic recipes
- I would love to be part of an online sourdough baking community
If you you fee that you would like to join, please click for our pricing options – I will be delighted to find you in our Club members forum if not then please consider a guided course – they are amazing.
